Rules and regulations FICU 2013

The Uruguay International Short Film Festival (FICU) is now accepting submissions of short films up to 30 minutes in length, completed after January 1st, 2011.

The FICU accepts films for the following sections:

Fiction 
Animation 
Documentary 
Children & Teens 
Video Art 
Video Dance

Filmmakers may submit as many films as they wish, for any of the sections, specifying for which section(s) they wish to be considered. 

Films whose main language is not Spanish must be subtitled in either English or Spanish, and a complete dialogue list with timecode must be included with their submission. Films that fail to meet this requirement will not be considered. 

Simultaneous voice-over translation will not be accepted.

The Festival organizers assume no responsibility or liability related to the copyright of any elements included in the films presented, whenever it may not have been duly secured by the film producers.

The Festival organization will not be held responsible for any damages film copies may suffer during shipping. 

Shipping costs will be covered by film entrants. The shipping of films from other festivals must also be arranged and paid for by the filmmakers.

All submissions must include the words: "FOR CULTURAL PURPOSES ONLY. NO COMMERCIAL VALUE. VALUE (FOR CUSTOMS PURPOSES ONLY) $ 10. The Festival organizers will not assume any responsibility for materials shipped without this clarification.

Film entries must be accompanied by a data sheet, including formats and credits specifications, as well as contact details for the person or persons responsible for each film.

(Once uploaded the work, you will be asked a series of data that will make up the registration form, the participant sending the message on line do not have to send anything by post or e-mail. The content is private and only accessible by the festival and colleagues)

The deadline for submissions is Friday, May 31, 2013.

The Festival organizers reserve the right to suspend or modify the festival´s rules and regulations whenever they see fit.

A pre-selection committee appointed by the Festival organizers will be responsible for the final selection. 

Selected films will be shown during the Festival and posted on the Festival´s homepage, websites, and social networks.

The directors and/or producers of the selected films will be notified by email.

The jury will be composed of distinguished personalities from the world of film, the arts, and academia, and they will be responsible for selecting the award winners. 

The Jury's decision will be final and subject to no appeal. Should the Jury fail to reach an agreement, it will be left for the Festival organizers to make a final decision.

The works submitted for selection will not be returned to the senders, and they will become part of the archive of FICU. 

They will be made available for screenings, events, and media promotion organized by the FICU, only for cultural purposes and never for commercial purposes.

Participation in the Festival implies the acceptance of all its rules and regulations, as described in this document.
